VICELAND Network Show Main Titles

VICE launched VICELAND with the mission of reprogramming traditional television. Two years later and thousands of hours of original content later, VICELAND is the fastest-growing network for young people in the US and is now available in ten countries.

I directed over nine main titles, leading a team of designers, videographers, illustrators, and animators.

Earthworks

The VICELAND series, Earthworks, journeys with some of our favorite bands to places that are just as important to them as they are to our ecosystem. Earthworks takes a compelling, musical approach to immediate environmental issues. In the series, Animal Collective record ambient sounds to raise awareness for the deforestation of the Brazilian rainforest and Local Natives witnessed the country's water crisis firsthand by following the path of the Colorado River from their Southern California digs to see how massive drought has cut off such a vital water and power source from the Pacific Ocean. The main title uses shots of instruments captured in-studio with a Phantom and anamorphic lenses. These moments were then composited into nature shots before revealing the show identity which forms from dust particles. Vice Does America

Abdullah Saeed and two VICE co-workers go on epic journeys of exploration and self-discovery in forgotten corners of the world. What could possibly go wrong? The open was built using footage from the series that was then dropped into a faux film template complete with texture and dust to give it depth. Each character of the journey had to be introduced in a playful manner while giving context to the show. Human gestural e lements were integrated into the open to reciprocating the feeling of raw documentary hand-held filming. Huang's World

The world's only Human Panda, Eddie Huang, takes us on a hilarious journey exploring race, identity, multiculturalism, and his irritable bowel syndrome through food. Vice worked with Media Monks in creating the open which was built from photos of Eddie placed into cutout and C4D worlds. The custom open track was performed by Cam’ron and the track was produced by The Heatmakerz.
